What's included
Storm work is triage. We start with whatever is blocking your driveway, resting on the house, or threatening to fall next, then work through the rest. That means cutting up downed trunks, removing hangers and split limbs still in the canopy, clearing brush from the yard and roof, and either hauling the debris away or stacking it at the curb for municipal collection, depending on what you prefer and what the city is picking up. Trees that are leaning or cracked but still standing are assessed on the spot, and we will tell you plainly if one needs to come down. If a tree is on the roof, we lift it off in sections to avoid further damage.
Storm season in Leon County
Hurricane season runs from June through November, and Tallahassee has seen what a strong storm does to a canopy of mature oaks and tall pines. Even outside of named storms, summer squall lines bring straight-line winds that snap pines and strip limbs from water oaks. Saturated soil from a week of rain makes root plates let go, and trees that looked fine lean over by morning. After a storm, the dangers are not always obvious: a limb cracked at the union can hang for days before dropping, and a trunk under tension can spring when cut. Clearing that safely is a job for a crew with the right saws, rigging and experience.
How to get on the schedule
Request storm cleanup online and describe the damage, with photos if you can. After a widespread event, we schedule in order of urgency, so let us know if a tree is on the structure, blocking access or pulling on a power line. A crew lead confirms the scope, sends a written quote to your Residely dashboard, and the work begins once you approve it. If your insurer needs documentation, we photograph the damage before and after and note it in the job record. Payment is made through your dashboard after the work is complete, and the invoice is itemized in a way that is easy to pass along to an adjuster.
Questions about storm cleanup
- How quickly can you get to my storm cleanup in Tallahassee?
- It depends on how widespread the damage is. After a major storm we prioritize trees on structures, blocked driveways and anything near utility lines, then move to yard debris. Submit your request as soon as it is safe, include photos, and you will see your place on the schedule in your dashboard.
- Will you work near a downed power line?
- No. If a tree or limb is touching a power line, the utility has to make it safe first. Call the City of Tallahassee Utilities or Talquin Electric, keep clear of the area, and let us know. We can handle everything else on the property and return for that section once the line is cleared.
- Do you haul the debris or leave it at the curb?
- Either. After a declared storm event the city and county often run curbside debris collection, and stacking at the right-of-way can save you money. Otherwise we chip and haul everything. Tell us your preference when you request the quote and we will price it both ways if that helps.
